Welcome to the 11-BM Homepage

Launched in late 2007, the 11-BM beamline provides the APS user community with access to the highest resolution synchrotron powder diffraction instrument in North America. It is now accepting new general user proposals.
Operating over the energy range 15 - 35 keV, 11-BM combines the brilliance of a APS bending magnet source with the efficiency of a sagittally focused double-crystal Si monochromator to achieve world-class sensitivity and resolution.
The 11-BM diffractometer has 12 analyzers and offers simultaneous high-speed (≤ 1 hr) and high-resolution (< 2 x 10-4 ΔQ/Q) data collection. It is equipped with a robot for unattended sample changes. Users can can submit proposals to access the instrument for on-site use or via a mail-in service. Requests for mail-in use of 8 hours or less may request rapid-access status.
On this website, one can learn more about the 11-BM user program, find information about beamline design and performance, and explore the science performed at 11-BM. A collection of resources for X-ray powder diffraction, including tutorials and software, are also available.
